Welcome to Newlands Primary School where we inspire
lifelong successful creative learners.
Our mission is:
To have outstanding levels of achievement in literacy and numeracy for all learners.
To grow the ‘whole person’ to enable students to be healthy and resilient members of our community as well as lifelong, successful and creative learners.
To ensure our learners have a vibrant and purposeful place to learn.
We are a contributing primary school in the northern suburb of Newlands in Wellington City. We celebrated our centenary in 2006, proudly providing quality education to the community of Newlands for well over 100 years.
We are a medium sized school which draws from a culturally diverse community. The school community is extremely supportive, and works in close partnership to ensure all learners aspire to achieve at the highest levels in academic, sporting, cultural, and social aspects of their lives. Our school whakatauki reflects our belief in the school being a nurturing place for the rito or young learner to grow to their full potential with the support of family, school, and the wider community.
Newlands Primary School is the right place for you if you want your child to:

Be resilient
Develop lifelong learning skills
Become a leader
Be an independent learner and citizen

Newlands Primary School deeply values and celebrates Aotearoa Newland Zealand’s bicultural status. We also honour the many other cultural backgrounds our Newland’s families bring to our learning community. We are a mini united nations who work and play together, and learn from each other.
Ero Report
The Education Review Office is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO reports are used by parents, teachers, principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.
Enrolments
Newlands Primary School is a state contributing school which welcomes enrolments from new entrants to Year 6 children.
We operate an enrolment scheme, which means that some parts of Newlands are not in zone for our school.
School Policies
Newlands Primary School works on a subscription basis with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines.
Emergency Proceedures
Newlands Primary School is a Civil Defence Community Emergency Hub (not a Civil Defence Centre).
Community Emergency Hubs are about the community coming together to do what it can to help each other – people helping people with what they have available
