School Uniform

Newlands Primary School Uniform

Newlands Primary School requires that its students wear a school uniform. We believe the uniform gives our students a sense of pride and belonging within our school community, and makes our children very visible in the wider community. We have selected a high quality, New Zealand made product which is hard-wearing and easy care. The school does not make any profit from the sale of the uniforms.

The following items are compulsory and must be worn by all students:

  • Polo shirt

  • Shorts / trousers / skorts

  • Fleece jacket

  • Summer hat (Term 1 and Term 4)

Students are allowed to wear black or navy blue thermal tops and leggings/tights under their uniform, as well as their own beanie and coat/puffer jacket in the playground on colder days (we do sell school beanies at the office). Hijab should also be black or navy blue in colour.

Due to daily physical activity, we recommend lace up running shoes for footwear, with navy blue, black, or white socks. (Gumboots and Crocs are not appropriate footwear for school.)

We are currently in a transition period with our uniform. In July 2022 a new colour polo shirt and fleece were introduced, along with updated trousers, shorts, and skort. All students are expected to be in the new look uniform by the start of 2025. All new entrant students are required to wear the new uniform from 2023.

Uniform items can be purchased at the school office between 8:30am and 3:30pm.
